Repeat and Withdrawal Changes in Effect for Summer 2012

Important changes begin Summer 2012 for Course Repeat and Withdrawal. Read the important information below.

Course Repeats

The California Community Colleges Board of Governors has passed regulation to limit the amount of times a student can enroll in a course. Beginning in summer 2012, students will be limited to the amount of times he or she can enroll in one type of course
.

For example, if you are enrolled in English 51 and you receive a substandard grade (D, F, NC or NP) or a Withdrawal (W) the first time you take it,
you will be allowed to enroll in the course again. If you receive a substandard grade (D, F, NC or NP) or a Withdrawal (W) the second time you take it,
you will be allowed to enroll in the course only one more time. The third time you enroll in the course will be the last time you will be able to enroll in the course.

Example 1:
English 51 Fall 2010 D
English 51 Spring 2011 F
English 51 Summer 2011 W
You cannot take the course at Woodland Community College or Yuba College again. Only the F will be calculated into your GPA for the English 51 course.
Example 2:

Withdrawals

A withdrawal on your transcript will also have further implications for your educational record. A withdrawal will count in the number of times you are allowed to repeat a course. It will be combined with substandard grades to limit the number of enrollments you may have for a single course.
