Kasey Gardner, Vice President of Academic and Student Services

Kasey joined Woodland Community College as Vice President in November 2019, after serving as the Dean of Behavioral and Social Sciences at Sacramento City College. Previous to his time in administration, Kasey was a Professor of Communication and Director of Forensics at Los Medanos College. When he’s not working on academic affairs, Kasey is an avid snowboarder and retro video game enthusiast. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from Western Kentucky University, a Master’s in Communication from the University of the Pacific, and an MBA from Saint Mary’s College of California.


Adela Esquivel-Swinson, Vice President of Student Services 

Adela Esquivel-Swinson is a bilingual Latina who is a first-generation college student with more than twenty years of experience in higher education. Her career includes serving diverse community colleges in various capacities across California. Throughout her career, she has championed access and student success.

Prior to joining Woodland Community College in July 2020, she served as Vice President of Student Affairs at Evergreen Valley College in San Jose, CA.  Ms. Esquivel-Swinson holds a Master’s degree in Education with an emphasis in Educational Leadership and Social Justice from Antioch University in Santa Barbara, CA, and a Human Services degree with an emphasis in Counseling from Notre Dame de Namuir University in Belmont, CA.

Her hobbies include gardening, reading, cooking, traveling, walking her dog Molly with her husband Paul, and attending gatherings with family and friends.
