Frequently Asked Questions

Question

Why do I have a hold on my account?

Answer

You may have a hold on your account if there’s an issue with your financial aid application—such as submitting the wrong application form (FAFSA vs. California Dream Act Application). This can delay your aid until it’s corrected.

What to do:

  1. Contact the Woodland Community College Financial Aid Office.
We can confirm which application you should have used based on your citizenship or residency status.
  2. If you submitted the wrong form:
    • Complete the correct financial aid application (either FAFSA or CADAA).
    • Then, fill out the Application Conversion Form from the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) and follow their instructions.
    • You can reach CSAC at 1-888-294-7268 if you need help with the form.
  3. Bring a copy of your completed Conversion Form to the Woodland Community College Financial Aid Office.
    A financial aid counselor will:
    • Remove the incorrect application from your file
    • Process the correct one
    • Create your financial aid award based on your updated application

Good news: If you submitted either application before the deadline, CSAC will honor the priority deadline of your first submission, even if it was the wrong one. So you won’t lose your place in line for state aid.

Still unsure? Contact the Financial Aid Office and we’ll walk you through it!
