Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is a 2012 executive program granting eligible undocumented youth protection from deportation, work authorization, social security numbers, and driver’s licenses.

DACA recipients can legally work in campus employment and work-study positions. However, DACA doesn’t provide a pathway to citizenship and must be renewed every two years.

Can I stay enrolled if DACA ends?

Yes. Woodland Community College has an open admissions policy welcoming all students regardless of immigration status. Your enrollment isn’t dependent on DACA status. Even if DACA were to end, you could continue your education and still qualify for California state financial aid through the Dream Act.

Will I still receive California Dream Act aid if DACA ends?

Yes. California Dream Act financial aid is completely separate from DACA status and will continue regardless of federal DACA policy changes. California state aid isn’t affected by federal immigration policy changes. Your Cal Grant and other state aid will continue as long as you maintain academic progress and financial eligibility.
