Understanding Common Course Numbering
To make transferring and course selection easier for students, California Community Colleges are implementing the Common Course Numbering (CCN) system. This initiative standardizes course numbers across all community colleges in the state, so equivalent courses will have the same number, regardless of where they are taken.

How This Affects You
- If you’ve already completed a course before the change, you do not need to retake the updated version.
- If you have a course in your education plan that is affected by CCN, you’ll need to update it with the new course number when registering for Fall 2025 and beyond. (See flyer below for more details on how to update!)
- This change will help ensure your courses transfer more smoothly within California’s community college system and to four-year universities.

Fall 2025 Common Course Numbering
Beginning Fall 2025, Woodland Community College will adopt the statewide Common Course Numbering (CCN) system. This change makes it easier for students to confirm that courses taken at any California Community College (CCC) are transferable and accepted across all 116 CCCs. Thanks to the approval of California Assembly Bill (AB) 1111, course numbers are now standardized to match similar courses offered statewide.
