Frequently Asked Questions
Question
Answer
Your financial aid award is based on a combination of federal formulas and state and college policies. The process starts when you submit your FAFSA (or California Dream Act Application), which is reviewed by Federal Student Aid (for FAFSA) or the California Student Aid Commission (for CADAA). They send a Submission Summary (formerly called Student Aid Report) to Woodland Community College.
The Woodland Community College Financial Aid Office then uses that information—along with any required documentation you submit—to determine how much aid you’re eligible to receive. Your award is based on your financial need, which is calculated by subtracting your Expected Family Contribution (EFC or SAI) from the Cost of Attendance (COA).
Your financial need, academic progress, enrollment status, and the availability of funds all affect the final amount awarded.
Once your file is complete, you’ll be notified by email about your financial aid offer. Any documents you submit are confidential and used only to determine your eligibility for aid.
