You Belong Here at Woodland Community College

Dear WCC Students,

Your well-being matters deeply to us. Woodland Community College is a place where every student should feel welcome, supported, and safe, and we want you to know about two important protections that are available to you.

Support for students of all immigration backgrounds. You deserve to pursue your education without fear. Under the California Values Act (SB 54), campus personnel may not share your personal information with immigration authorities without a judicial warrant or subpoena. Whatever your immigration status, you are a valued member of our community. You’ll find Know Your Rights handouts in multiple languages through our partners CHIRLA, and we hope you’ll use them and share them with family and friends: My Rights – The Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights.

A campus free from discrimination. Every student deserves to be treated with dignity and respect. The Equity in Higher Education Act protects you from discrimination or harassment based on race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, disability, and other characteristics. You have the right to equitable access to opportunities and resources, and if something doesn’t feel right, please reach out.

As California’s Constitution affirms, you have “the inalienable right to attend campuses which are safe, secure and peaceful” (art. I, § 28). We are committed to protecting that right.

If you have questions, need help connecting with resources, or simply want someone to talk to, we’re here to support you. We encourage you to use the following free WCC resources:

  • WCC Dream Center: Connect with our campus team for support, information, and referrals to available legal services.
  • TimelyCare: Access virtual health and mental health support when you need it. All WCC students can check out resources and/or request to meet with a Behavioral Health Provider through the “TalkNow” feature- simply look for the TimelyCare tile on your Student Portal.

We’re here for you, and we’re proud to be on this journey with you.

In solidarity,

Dr. Lizette Navarette
