Start with UC Planning Tools
UC Transfer Admission Planner (TAP)
UC TAP is a free online tool for California community college students. You can enter completed and planned coursework, track your progress toward UC requirements, and receive messages from UC staff about transfer preparation.
UC Transfer Pathways
Transfer Pathways outline a single set of lower-division courses that will prepare you for a major across multiple UC campuses. If your major has a Pathway, following it helps you stay UC-ready while keeping campus options open.
Know Your Timeline
Application filing period for Fall 2026 admission: October 1 – November 30, 2025. UC Berkeley and UC Merced use the semester calendar; most other campuses use the quarter system. Winter/spring transfer options are limited—plan for fall unless a campus lists otherwise.
Complete the UC Application
Use the UC application to apply to one or more campuses. You’ll submit one application and one set of Personal Insight Questions (PIQs), then select the campuses you want to be considered for.
Personal Insight Questions (PIQs)
PIQs are your chance to share experiences, achievements, and context that grades alone can’t show. Read the prompts, watch UC’s tips video, and draft early so you can revise.
Updating Your Application
After you submit, UC may ask you to update your application with final fall grades and winter/spring schedules.
Consider a Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG)
Six UC campuses offer a TAG to qualifying students who complete specific coursework, GPA, and deadlines. If you’re eligible, TAG can give you an early admission decision—while you still apply broadly through the regular UC application.
