Attendance logs are monthly forms your county caseworker uses to verify your class hours. You complete them, have them signed, and submit them by the deadline your county sets.

The hours you must complete depend on your family situation:

• Single parents with children under age 6: 20 hours per week
• Single parents with children age 6 or older: 30 hours per week
• Two-parent households: 35 hours per week (combined)

You must record your class hours and related activities on the log, then have it signed by an instructor or CalWORKs counselor. Logs are usually due monthly—by the first week of the following month—and should be submitted to your county worker.

Email your completed logs monthly to a Woodland Community College CalWORKs Counselor with:

1. your name
2. student ID
3. county worker’s name.

Woodland Community College CalWORKs staff understand CalWORKs regulations and requirements, and we work closely with county case managers to support student success.

Our role is to help students meet their CalWORKs participation requirements while keeping you informed about their progress. Each student signs a Release of Information form, which allows us to share updates directly with case managers if a student:

• Begins, ends, or changes jobs
• Changes their class schedule
• Has an employer raise concerns about job performance
• Receives a raise
• Is at risk of dropping classes
• Reports a change of address

Our staff and counselors are available to answer any questions you may have about a student’s participation.

CalWORKs is California’s welfare-to-work program, and all Woodland Community College CalWORKs students are enrolled in courses of study while seeking hands-on experience in the workplace. Employers benefit by gaining access to motivated students who are eager to build skills and achieve long-term career goals.

The CalWORKs program can help your business:

• Find quality employees who are enhancing their skills through education and work experience
• Post jobs and receive referrals for student candidates matched to your needs
• Access up-to-date labor market and occupation information
• Take advantage of tax and hiring incentives, at no cost to your company

Training incentives: Employers may receive reimbursement of up to 75% of wages paid during an agreed training period for eligible new hires. CalWORKs will send student applicants, help match them to your needs, and formalize the arrangement before work begins. Reimbursement schedules (weekly, bimonthly, or monthly) can be arranged to fit your business.

Tax incentives: Employers who hire CalWORKs participants may qualify for additional tax incentives. Woodland Community College CalWORKs staff can provide details and eligibility guidance.
