What is First Year Experience?
Woodland Community College’s First Year Experience program (FYE) is an exciting opportunity created to provide new students with a good foundation for success in the first year of college and beyond.
Through a learning community approach, FYE is a year-long program designed to support new students by guaranteeing students their math, English, and college success courses for the fall and spring semesters, along with a dedicated counselor, and fun engaging activities throughout the year.
As an FYE learning community, students take classes with other FYE students, helping to build longstanding relationships and connections with other students, instructors, counselors, and staff at WCC.
The goal of FYE is to provide students with a great first year experience at WCC and a solid foundation for success to help students meet their academic goal of completing a certificate, degree, and/or transfer to a university.
Recent high school graduates who will be attending WCC for the first time in the fall semester. Eligible students must commit to the FYE program for their first year (fall & spring semester) are a one-week summer orientation (July 30th – Aug 2nd).
The FYE program provides first year students with a supportive learning environment through linked courses, student services, & fun activities.
Guaranteed classes in the first year, no cost for books, dedicated counselor and peer mentors, university tours, social events & workshops, & opportunities to build connections with peers, staff & instructors.

- Fill out FYE application. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis until all spots have been filled! The application period for the 2018-19 year will be open until June 30, 2018.
