Woodland Community College’s
Exciting New Program for First Year Students:
First Year Experience (FYE)
What is First Year Experience?
Woodland Community College’s First Year Experience program (FYE) is an exciting opportunity created to provide new students with a good foundation for success in the first year of college and beyond.
Through a learning community approach, FYE is a year-long program designed to support new students by guaranteeing students their math, English, and college success courses for the fall and spring semesters, along with a dedicated counselor, and fun engaging activities throughout the year.
As an FYE learning community, students take classes with other FYE students, helping to build longstanding relationships and connections with other students, instructors, counselors, and staff at WCC.
The goal of FYE is to provide students with a great first year experience at WCC and a solid foundation for success to help students meet their academic goal of completing a certificate, degree, and/or transfer to a university.
New WCC students who commit to the FYE program for their first year (fall & spring semester) are eligible.
The FYE program provides first year students with a supportive learning environment through linked courses, student services, & fun activities.
Guaranteed classes in first year, no cost for books, dedicated counselor and peer mentors, university tours, fun activities & workshops, & opportunities to build connections with peers, staff & instructors.
