Meet WCC’s Sociology Faculty

WCC Sociology faculty are committed to helping our students develop critical thinking skills, global awareness, and a sociological imagination. We teach in a range of modalities and styles to meet your needs.

Nili Kirschner

Professor Nili Kirschner

Nili has been teaching sociology at WCC since 2008. She grew up in San Francisco and lived in the Bay Area most of her life until moving to Woodland to teach at WCC. Nili double-majored in sociology and psychology at UC Santa Cruz and attended graduate school at UC Berkeley where her research focused on special education and disability rights.

Dr. yvonne hurtado allen

Yvonne Allen

yvonne attended WCC from 2009-2011 and was the first graduate ever to receive a sociology degree from WCC. She transferred to UC Davis where she earned a bachelor’s in Sociology, a master’s in Community and Regional Development, and a PhD in education. Her doctoral research focused on rural Latina/o students and their educational experiences.
